The Australian Nuclear Free Alliance had a site on WordPress.com for many years, but with the renewed threat of an international nuclear waste dump in Australia, it was time for a major update. We worked together to make the site look fresh and dynamic, and put user generated content plugin CRED to work to allow […]
Virtual Private Server Hosting is a fantastic solution for small to medium websites. Rather than paying a monthly charge to keep your single website running, we pay for a larger Virtual Machine that is shared between many sites. Using VPS hosting in combination with a Content Distribution Network means that the low cost doesn't necessarily mean a compromise in speed.
We use Dreamhost VPS as it is a low cost company committed to Open Source software, and also show their environmental conciousness by offsetting their servers carbon emmissions.
See the websites we've built on our VPS below:
Lawyers for Forests
Lawyers for Forests is an association of legal professionals working towards the protection and conservation of Australia’s remaining native forests. Their site had been built in 2003, but in 2015 it was hacked and it was time for a major upgrade.
Taring Padi
The infamous Indonesian artist collective Taring Padi was paying too much for a host which didn’t meet their storage requirements. We migrated their site to help keep their archive of revolutionary artwork alive and online, and set up a shop for them to sell their wares internationally.
Post Polio Victoria
Post Polio Victoria had put together their own website with a default WordPress installation, but realised they needed some help understanding the difference between Pages and Posts, Categories and Tags when they thought that their website was ‘full’. We helped them to re-organise their site and redesign their theme for the modern era.
Pedalling for Papua
Pedalling for Papua was a spectacular creative action bringing awareness to the Indonesian occupation of West Papua. But less than a year after their campaign had ended, their website was down, and with it all their email contacts from all their countless encounters with supporters on their ride around the world. We missed their colourful […]
Upper Burrell Creek
We’re working on this website for a remote, unfunded landcare group. They are doing an awesome job responding as a community to the onslaught of noxious weeds and unseasonal fires, but they needed a way to share GPS data and local know-how. Online GPS mapping solutions can be expensive and difficult, but we put Umap, […]
Whats Behind the Jewish National Fund
We carefully crafted this website design and content to appeal to moderate Jewish communities in the diaspora
Federal Republic of West Papua
We approached the design of this site to work with the Federal Republic of West Papua’s principles of sustainability, self-determination, and good governance
This Website
We are building this website to function as more than just a business portfolio. Hopefully, it gives you a good idea about what we do, but also some ideas about the tools and concepts that go into developing a website. By showcasing some of the tools we use we hope to give something back to […]
